Car Raid

The bright white shined off the car releasing piping heat waves. Diana slumps down into the white mazda 6. Diana Guszak is a tidy 74 year old woman. She drives a mazda 6 with dark tinted windows. She always carries a bottle of baby wipes because “you never know when you’re going to need to clean something up.”Diana said.  Along with her wipes she carries hand sanitizer so she never gets any germs and gets sick. Diana is kind of a clean freak who is also a germaphobe. It’s easy to see how a person acts based on a few items they posses in their car. It becomes harder to see what they they believe. After closely analysing and studying her car there were items supporting her beliefs. The bumper sticker on the back of her car stated “Tea parties are for little girls and their imaginary friends.” This shows Diana is against the republican party and supports the democratic party. She shares her thoughts so “people can see who I am and what I believe in.” Diana said. But the most interesting feature was found dangling from the rear view mirror. Swaying back and forth was which looked to be a small copper face. When being asked about this object, Diana responded with “I have this safety, It makes me feel secure and protected when it is hanging, but when it falls I feel in danger and hazardous.” Immediately connecting back to the St. Christopher medals people hang in their cars in the 1970s. This medal was important for Catholics who believed St. Christopher was born to a heathen king from land of Canaan or possibly Arabia. He was supposedly a man of extraordinary size and strength and died a martyr in the 3rd century, after converting thousands to Christianity. People felt the importance in having him in their cars at all times. Diana is a superstitious person having a copper face for good luck in her car.

Short Answer:

Read the story on page SA2 about Harry Potter World.

I think I would rather go to Harry Potter World than Disney World. Even though I have never been to either one I feel like Disney World is done to death and I am more of a fan of Harry Potter and I love themed stores and places that make me feel like I am in the movies. The competition might be heating up because Harry Potter World is a lot newer than Disney World and people might want to try something new. There are bigger castles and more rides making people want to go to Harry Potter World more interesting. Oh my gosh, my favorite Disney character, I not sure if I can pick one but I do really love Mulan. Mulan is so brave and never stepped down from a challenge, she always inspired me to be brave and not be afraid of life's challenges. I always felt like hufflepuff. I am not sure why but I always liked the people there and never felt like I fit anywhere else.

Movie Review

'Captain Phillips' WHALE he make it out alive?

'Captain Phillips' is a movies based on a real life events staring Tom Hank as Captain Phillips and his dangerous journey through the Horn of Africa. Captain Phillips was directed by Paul Greengrass and producer by Dana Brunetti, Micheal De Luca and Scott Rudin. This film had many action and suspenseful scenes some including violence and intense language, rated PG 13.
Tom Hanks playing a terrific role as Captain Phillips, playing a completely believable Captain of a ship, as well as the crew members. The pirates, Faysal Ahmed, Mahat M. Ali, Barkhad Abdirahman did an excellent job playing their roles, especially Barkhad Abdi as his role of Adbuwali Muse, the main pirate throughout the movie. They had done a great of casting.
This movie began with Captain Phillips saying goodbye to his wife and getting the cargo ship ready to sail around the Horn of Africa. Shortly after deporting trouble strikes the ship, Maersk Alabama. Two small skiffs approach the ship following there moves. Phillips made a fake call driving one skiff away but leaving one. Then creating waves the second skiff finally leaves. Captain Phillips sure of his tactics, came sailing the next day, but sure enough the skiff appeared again, this time more determined than the before. The crew had was all working together to prepare the ship before the pirates invaded. The ship trying all they can was not enough, letting the four pirates invade the ship and find the Captain. The crew had been hiding in the engine room until it was safe to come up. Captain Phillips, Having a gun to his head was forced to show the pirates around the ship looking for the rest of the crew. Phillips and his crew planning clever tricks to keep them away for the crew. The crew eventually captures Muse, the head pirate, in exchange for Captain Phillips back and to send them back on the life boat. The pirates capture Phillips and take off leaving the ship and the crew.
I enjoyed watching this movie a lot, it was thrilling and exciting and I always love watching movies when you never know what's going to happen. I wouldn't recommend kids under the age of 13 watching this, it could get intense and contain some explicit language that wouldn't be best for children. But if you are older than 12 than I am sure you will really enjoy this movie like I did. And also it teaches you why you need to always be prepared for emergencies. Overall I would rate this as a 9 out of 10 stars.

Short Answer:

I have never personally used Lyft or Uber because my parents drive me everywhere and I don't have any money anyways. But my sister and my mom have before, and they both like it a lot and they think it is very convenient. I would definitely use it in the future because well one I can't drive so I need transportation and when I am a lot older and I need a ride home from like down town it would be very helpful. Yes, I think it is perfect for a community like Austin. We have so many people coming down town that fly here without cars and they need a car to drive somewhere that could be too  far to walk. I actually don't know the differences between ride sharing an taxi companies. I thought they were the same thing.
Yes, I think that have the same safety issues and should be treated the same. But I probably don't know enough about them both to say anything or for people to be listening to me.

Homework

DIRECTIONS: Using the Web sites listed below, read TWO movie reviews. You will identify the high points, low points, and a provide a quote that sums up the author's opinion about the movie.

Step 1: Read a movie review from the link provided below

Step 2: Post the headline of the movie review on your blog. Make the headline a sliceable link that takes the readers to the full review on the original Web site where it was published online.

Step 3: Under the headline for the movie review, provide the following information:

1. Entrainment Weekly
2. The author's name was not mentioned.
3. I would rate this movie at about a 6.
4. The reviewer like the costumes and make up from this movie.
5. They didn't like the script or the dialogue of the movie.
6. There’s a certain place on every movie lover’s menu for big-budget, eye-candy costume-a-paloozas – films that are all about over-the-top divas in dazzlingly ornate frocks going cheekbone-to-cheekbone as broadly as the sirens of the silent era. But there also needs to be more to them than just technical-category magic. It needs to touch your heart, not just your retinas.

1. Entrainment Weekly
2. Christian Holub
3. I haven't seen this movie yet, but it doesn't look that good according to the review.
4. They liked the settings and where they filmed it and how they made it look.
5. Christian did not like the concept of the film and the idea of it.
6. Following the chronological holiday calendar, the anthology kicks off with Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately, it’s the weakest of the bunch, probably because Valentine’s Day is the holiday with the least amount of mythological baggage. As motifs go, there’s the color red, and there’s the heart shape. Writer/directors Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer put both of them to use in a story about a disturbed young girl with a crush on her diving coach, who just so happens to need a heart transplant. Like Carrie, this girl is mercilessly tormented by her peers. She eventually takes revenge in a grotesque and thematically appropriate way, but the outcome is relatively easy to predict.

Movie prep

1. Who are the main characters you would expect to see in the movie, based on the real life events?
The main characters in this movie are Captain Phillips, Abduluwaii, and Captain Larry.
2. Briefly, in 2-3 paragraphs, tell me what you expect the plot to be in the movie, based on the real life events?
I'm exactly sure about what will be happening in this movie, but I am expecting the whole or most of the story to be on the boat or ship. The pirates will come invade the ship, while all the crew members lock themselves in the engine room. Then the pirates will take Phillip off to there own boat in Somali.  I am guessing the main part of the movie will be him with the pirates and them torturing him.

After the pirates holding on to him the Navy finally comes to the rescue and saves Captain Phillip. The pirate tried to plead guilty kidnapping but was put to jail for 33 years. Phillip was waiting and wanting to get back out on sea. His feels as if his crew would be safe and they would have nothing to worry about. I'm not sure how this story is going to play out so I want to see how they did it.

3. Why was this story important?
This story is very important and interesting now to read about and watch. This was the first pirate attack that was successful and that they kidnapped and hijacked a ship. They were so young and had the power to hijack and take the Captain of a ship.
4. Why did the pirates try to take the ship?

The pirates tried to take the ship because they wanted the insurance money after they were to take it. And the supplies that were on the ship.

1. List the five most important actors in the film.
The most important actors were

Free Write

Poem
Write a poem about a first romantic experience or encounter

Staring forward into mindless despair
I can't help but roll my head to the ground
Facing eye to eye in my sight so rare
Falling in so deep to what I have found

All my instincts have flown out the front door
along with my dignity and pride
I risk sinking in deeper to the floor
I pretend to go along with the ride

Not sure what to do or how to act now
Not able to think of anyone else
Seeing you is only bringing me down
I can't even recognize my own self

Holding my chin high and walking away
I won't sit around like your little prey

I was very confused on why people would be poisoning and not telling others if they could have known about this. It is insane to me the things that people do to others. There are so many problems with or world today, at least in the United States. I had not heard about this before reading this story. Which really shocked me since my parents usually tell me everything going on in the world, but they never told me about it. I was wondering if they had even heard about it. I think the adults should be going to jail or punished in some way, and the children should be put somewhere else, many in other households or in a place for all of them that they can stay that could have a punishment of some sort. Or maybe they should have a huge fine. They are responsible for many deaths and sicknesses in their city.
I think they should be held accountable, but not as much as the city leaders. They didn't start the water problems, but then again they didn't stop them either. But still they shouldn't be accountable for as much as the others.

Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Bernie Sanders, and Hilary Clinton are the major candidates left in the races.
The main influences I have of politics are my parents and older brother, so I stick with what they have to say because they are the smartest people I know and I feel they know what the best thing for the country is. My whole family are democrats, and My mom, dad and brother voted for Bernie, and that's would I support also.
The whole country will continue to become more divided. Everyone has different view on the world, and how is should be. So people will continue to grow apart along with there beliefs.
My main concern is Donald Trump becoming president and the people that support him taking over and Trump creating barriers and deporting people who are not white.
Some major topics concerning the candidates are having are abortion, guns, and immigrations laws.
Which topics are the most important to you?

They are all very important to me and everyone around me. Immigration is a huge effect on a lot of people in the United States today. It can control families and peoples lives. It can cause horrible places for people to live.
